The Elephant Tour begins in Washington D.C. and heads to Las Vegas

The Veterans Corporation announced that it has formally started a new awareness campaign to draw attention to the need for additional mentoring programs for Veteran small businesses.

According to Jim Mingey, the lead volunteer for TVC's Changecorp Project, " 'The Elephant in the Room' for Veteran small business is mentoring and we need to enlist an 'Army' of new Minuteman Mentors (R) to help Veterans accelerate what's next for their small business " Over the past year TVC has been promoting various mentoring initiatives such as American Corporate Partners, the Entrepreneurial Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities Foundation, SCORE and others. TVC will now join with the Knowledge Institute, the U.S. Veterans Chamber of Commerce, Prairie View at Texas A&M, Yale and several other supporting universities to implement the Change Corp Project for Veteran Entrepreneurs.

The Change Corp Project aims to use and refine new information technologies in a way that will allows Veteran small businesses to both share information and also customize and rate organizations that provide it. Since each Veteran small business has different needs and priorities, the Project seeks Minuteman Mentors who can quickly address the full spectrum of mentoring resources available to the Veteran small business and show Veterans how to maximize the use of such resources. An example of the type of Minuteman Mentor sought is the expert Federal Procurement officer who might offer a comment on a hypothetical marketing strategy for a particular Federal Agency. Change Corp Project supporters hope that this type of Federal Minuteman Mentor will use the Project to help Veterans but also use it to make their jobs easier as well. There's no question that the vast majority of Federal employees actively seek to help Veteran small business. The Change Corp Project just hopes to capture and accelerate the use of their best advice and then make it into a continuous improvement program.
